Microsoft Office Setup Targets iPad with the low-price Surface tablets

As indicated by the Bloomberg reports Microsoft is anticipating contend with iPad cost by propelling a portion of the new Surface tablets by 2018 mid-year. The point is to take some show of Apple’s piece of the overall industry.

Microsoft is guaranteeing to dispatch at $400 that accompanies 10-inch shows with the adjusted edge cases, USB-C ports, nine hours battery life, and 20% lighter bodies than the more established models like Surface Pro and I Pads.

On March, Apple then again, propelled another variant of the $329 iPad with the speedier processor and Pencil stylus bolster. Also, $329 iPad has helped up iPad deals that has altogether expanded ever it got discharged a year ago. Macintosh has conceded that 9.7 inch tablet is their well known iPad.

Microsoft will be giving a tough competition to the Apple and the new Surfaces will have the new keyboard cover which Apple lacks. Apple doesn’t sell its own keyboard cover for the entry-level iPad as well as lacks in Smart Connector.

Instead it relies on the third-parties like Logitech with the Bluetooth keyboard cases that cost around $100. Apple Pencil costs $99 and Logitech is going to release at the end of this year, Crayon stylus to education markets that costs around $49.

There is also something which Microsoft should bother about is there tablets aren’t getting acknowledged from the reviewers and there is also possibility of platform war. The new Surface devices will run on Windows 10 Pro that lacks in touch-friendly apps which iOS devices ‘App Store’ provides to their customers.

Google along with the third-party hardware brands seems to be joining the queue, this year by shifting its focus from Android to Chrome OS for the tablets.  And there is a bundle of interesting options from HP and Acer.

On 4th June, Apple will host its WWDC keynote that will reveal their next major OS updates- iOS 12, Mac OS 10.14, Watch OS 5, and tv OS 12. Still there will lot more updates coming on the way of both phones and tablets, iPad specific features which includes UI screen updates that has reportedly pushed back to iOS 13.

New to Office setup 365 in December—extending human ingenuity with everyday AI

Prior today in San Francisco, Harry Shum, official VP of Microsoft AI and Research, showed how Microsoft is mixing wise advances over our center items to make manmade brainpower (AI) accessible to everybody, with the basic objective of helping individuals convey their best work.

Office 365 is based on Microsoft’s capable stage for AI that makes progressions in machine learning and AI available to each engineer and association. From archive interpretation to keen danger location, AI is now improving the efficiency experience of more than 120 million business Office 365 clients.

New Office 365 AI capacities this month enable endorsers of find experiences from information, use hierarchical learning, touch base on schedule for occasions, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Read on for points of interest.

Automatically unlock rich insights with AI (preview)

Every day, millions of Office 365 subscribers rely on Excel to perform complex analysis and derive value from their organizations’ data with intelligent tools like Flash Fill and advanced data transformation. For many, however, extracting key insights from a new data set can be intimidating. Today, we’re announcing the preview of Insights in Excel—a new service that automatically highlights patterns it detects, which makes it easier for everyone to explore and analyze their data. Powered by machine learning, Insights helps identify trends, outliers, and other useful visualizations, providing new and useful perspectives on data. Insights begins rolling out in preview to Office insiders this month.

Master company lingo with machine learning

Every workplace is unique, and understanding the internal acronyms in use across an organization can be essential to success. Today, we announced a new Microsoft Word feature called Acronyms. Powered by machine learning, Acronyms helps people understand shorthand that is commonly used in their own workplaces by leveraging the Microsoft Graph to surface definitions of terms that have been previously defined across emails and documents. Acronyms will begin rolling out to Word Online for Office 365 commercial subscribers in 2018.

Get to events on time with Outlook

In 2017, we rolled out several new capabilities in Outlook that help users automatically detect trips and deliveries, triage email, schedule meetings, and more. Today, we’re expanding this set of AI-powered tools by bringing Cortana to the Outlook mobile app to help users stay on top of their day. When it is time to leave for appointments, Outlook will now send a notification—with directions for both driving and public transit—taking into account current location, the event location, and real-time traffic information. Time to leave in Outlook is rolling out to iOS users this month in markets where Cortana is available.

Bring people, ideas, and content together with Microsoft Whiteboard Preview

This month, we also announced the preview of Microsoft Whiteboard for Windows 10 devices—a freeform digital canvas where people, ideas, and content can come together. Microsoft Whiteboard Preview is built for teams who ideate and work together across multiple devices and locations. Unlike traditional whiteboards, the app uses AI to recognize freeform drawings and turn them into standard shapes, so it’s easier to create great-looking tables, diagrams, and flowcharts using only a pen. Users can work together in real-time on shared content and automatically save to the cloud to pick their work up later from another device. Microsoft Whiteboard is now available in preview from the Windows Store.

Find text in images with intelligent search

Earlier this year, we introduced the ability for OneDrive and SharePoint to automatically recognize the content within images and detect whiteboards, screenshots, receipts, and more. Today, we are expanding this capability to automatically extract searchable text from those images, making it easier to find a wide range of content, including receipts and business cards, using memorable search terms and without needing to know where the images are stored. Text in image search is currently rolling out and will be available to all Office 365 commercial subscribers by the end of December.

Officecomsetup.org – Identify business needs and prioritize Microsoft 365 scenarios

This is the third post from our blog series on the four success factors for driving Microsoft 365 adoption.

Check out the other posts part of this series:

Part 1: Enable your business stakeholders with a successful Microsoft 365 adoption
Part 2: Recruit key stakeholders to help with your adoption

In this blog post I will focus on the second success factor – Scenarios, and how to identify and prioritize them, while measuring their impact on your organization.

The true measure of success for your Microsoft 365 adoption, like any change or new technology, will be the value realized by your organization from its investment. Your opportunity with Microsoft 365 is to enable the different Lines of Business (LoBs) and departments in your organization to realize important business outcomes. This requires identifying and prioritizing scenarios – which are the different ways people and teams in your organization can use the capabilities of Microsoft 365 to achieve their goals.

Get started with early wins and build on that success

Our most successful customers typically start their journey with more basic scenarios that have universal appeal across the organization:

Employee Engagement & Communication: Create a sustainable, consistent way for senior leaders to connect with employees, using Yammer as a community to share and engage, and Skype Meeting Broadcast for companywide meetings.
Bring Campaigns to Market Faster: Enable marketers to collaborate with people inside and outside the organization using Microsoft Teams as their shared workspace for communicating and sharing with team members.
Increase Sales Productivity and Grow Revenue: Provide sales teams with a centralized hub with Microsoft Teams for sales planning, real time collaboration on proposals and RFPs, and for managing their monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
Streamline Business Reviews: Help finance move beyond gathering and cleaning data to be able to analyze data with Power BI, and collaborate together on the data in one place with Microsoft Teams.

Once you’ve delivered value with these more basic scenarios, you have more credibility to engage your business stakeholders for custom scenarios that deliver unique value. Think of this value realization motion as a flywheel – score some early wins with cross organization scenarios, and then move on to more ambitious areas of impact for each LoB or department. As you provide more and more impact to the business, more stakeholders will get engaged and the momentum of the flywheel builds and builds.

So, how can you work with your business stakeholders to identify relevant scenarios for their teams to adopt? At it’s most basic level it’s about identifying what the team wants to accomplish, how they can use the technology to accomplish their goal, and what the expected impact of the Scenario is. To help you get started, check out the Microsoft 365 productivity library, where you can discover new scenarios based on your industry and different functional departments.

The IT team leading the Microsoft 365 adoption at Standard Bank – Africa’s largest banking group, has done a great job engaging with the business to identify scenarios that are helping different stakeholders accomplish their goals. Standard Bank dedicated an adoption team within IT to engage with each business unit and functional department to realize unique value with Microsoft 365 in a consistent manner – i) conduct an “art of the possible” session with the team so they can start to envision relevant Microsoft 365 scenarios, ii) workshop scenarios by mapping Microsoft 365 capabilities to the team’s challenges and goals, iii) prototyping and implementing prioritized scenarios, and iv) enabling the business unit to be self-sustainable in their adoption of scenarios and evolving the solutions to suit their needs.

“You don’t need a large team and budget to get going. Dedicate some resources who are passionate about improving the business, who can get in where the work is happening and can assist business users in making the bridge between their day to day challenges and friction points, and the enabling technology that comes with Microsoft 365.

A great resource to help with this is the Microsoft 365 Productivity Library, we’ve used it to help our business discover scenarios and use cases that are relevant to them. Once they see that they can bring different components of the suite together to respond to different needs, they get it.”

To avoid overwhelming end users with too many scenarios at the same time it’s important to prioritize your scenarios based on expected impact and difficulty of implementing. This prioritized list will determine what scenarios get rolled out when.
To measure the success of your Microsoft 365 rollout, it’s critical to develop a set of criteria to evaluate the different scenarios you and your team have implemented. Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that you expect will improve based on adopting your scenarios. Evaluate where you are before implementing Microsoft 365 and measure your ongoing progress post implementation. While it’s important to measure and showcase the business value you are providing the organization with your Microsoft 365 implementation, monitoring and reporting on usage helps demonstrate overall adoption levels and areas where improvement is required. The Office 365 adoption content pack is available to gain insights on how your organization is adopting the various services within Office 365.

Success stories are often just as valuable as quantitative measures when demonstrating Microsoft 365 success. Encourage your project team members and champions to identify examples of people and teams using Microsoft 365 to accomplish their goals and everyday tasks. Make sure you share these success stories through Yammer or other internal channels.

Now that you have identified and prioritized your scenarios, it’s time to create internal excitement about the scenarios and ready end users to successfully adopt them. Stay tuned for the next blog post where I will cover the final two success factors for driving Microsoft 365 adoption – Awareness and Training.

How to Fix Microsoft Office Setup Install Error 1401, 1402 or 1406?

First announced by Bill Gates on August 1988, Microsoft Office incorporates a set of applications, services and servers. The first version of this popular office suite contained only MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word for creating spreadsheets, presentations and documents. Over the years, Microsoft has brought in other exciting features like OLE data integration, scripting languages and more.

The initial release was compatible only with the Windows OS, but later it enhanced its reach to both Windows OS and Mac OS. Today, the office suite includes MS Access, MS Outlook, MS OneNote, MS Publisher, MS Project, MS Visio and more along with those already available applications. Downloading, installing and configuring MS Office is not a tedious job. A user with basic knowledge of the internet can easily install the suite from Microsoft website. At times, you may encounter an error while performing any of these operations. Though there are a number of such errors yet 1401, 1402 and 1406 have been on the top of that list.

Office Setup Error Codes with Their Explanation

Before you find a solution of the most common installation errors, it is mandatory to know what these codes stand for. Error 1401 occurs when the setup is unable to create the registry key, error 1402 occurs if the setup is not able to open the registry key and the last error 1406 occurs when Office setup is unable to write values to the registry key.
What Causes These Errors?

You may encounter 1406 error if the Office installation files don’t have the permission to change or modify specific files in the C drive. If you attempt to do so, it could also raise a number of other errors as well. The other reason could be the inaccessible or corrupted registry keys.

Resolution to Office Setup Errors

There are four different ways of resolving these troublesome issues causing a halt in the installation of Microsoft Office setup. You can choose any one from the following:

Method 1

For all the group of registry sub-keys, which are displayed in the error message, simply set the permission for Everyone to Full Control.

Method 2

In case of Error 1406, simply disable all the third-party applications (Such as an antivirus or security software) and retry installing the Office suite. Once the setup is successfully installed, enable that third-party application.

Method  3

Open the system into a “Clean Boot” state and then try to install the Office Setup. This will automatically disable the third-party application that is causing the halt in the installation of the Office suite setup. These third-party applications don’t let the setup access registry keys that initiates the installation.

Method 4

In case of Office 2007, Office 2003 and Office XP, it may happen that the license file is corrupted. This license file cannot be removed just by re-installing the Office setup. For this, you need to delete the license file by following specific instructions of Easy Fix Solution. Once you fix these errors, you can begin the Office.com/Setup installation without any hassle.
